India is generally closed on public holidays in all state governments. There are some holidays that are state-specific and there are some where banks across the country are closed. All-India holidays include Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). Festivals like Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Good Friday are also holidays.
